Sakya Thegchen Ling is the Tibetan Buddhist centre of the Sakya tradition in the Netherlands. It is located in The Hague—the international city of peace and justice—on Laan van Meerdervoort, a major central avenue.
The late Khenchen Sherab Gyaltsen Amipa first visited the Netherlands in October 1976, at the invitation of the Friends of Buddhism Foundation. During that visit, the decision was made to establish a Sakya centre in the Netherlands. The centre was officially registered as a foundation in 1985.
His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche visited for the first time in September 1978. Accompanied by Lama Sangyay and family members, His Holiness gave the initiations of Buddha Manjushri and Buddha Amitayus.
Sakya Thegchen Ling owns the building in which it is housed. This property was bequeathed by Emilie van der Wiel, for which the sangha remains deeply grateful.
The centre serves as a meaningful gathering place for anyone interested in connecting with Tibetan Buddhism.

In addition to weekly meetings, the centre offers an introductory course in Tibetan Buddhism, a course on Samatha and Ngöndro practices, an English-language meditation and Lamdre study group, and a Vajrayogini study group, among others.
Besides the treasured visits from His Holiness, the sangha is blessed with regular visits from Khenpo Tashi Sangpo Amipa and other teachers of the Sakya tradition.
