It helps practitioners clear away mental obstacles and build essential qualities like letting go of attachments\, self-discipline\, meditation\, and wisdom. This foundation is crucial for moving on to more advanced Vajrayana teachings and practices. The Ngöndros are like a roadmap to enlightenment — it gives us step-by-step instructions on our journey to liberation.  \n\n\n\nLama Sherab Sangpo \n\n\n\nMy religious name is Lama Sherab Sangpo\, and my civil name is Nima Bhutia. I was born on 5th June 1992 in Eastern Nepal. \n\n\n\nI entered the Sakya Guru Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in Ghoom/Darjeeling (WB\, India) in the year 2000 and took the vows as a novice monk. There I studied and memorized many rituals\, learned how to make tormas and mandalas according to the regular program. All monks must be able to perform these rituals as they are an integral part of the annual monastic program.  \n\n\n\nIn 2008 I took full Bhikshu ordination. After further studies at Sakya Guru Monastery in Darjeeling I joined the Sakya Choepheling Institute of Higher Buddhist Studies in Rimbick (near Darjeeling) to deepen my knowledge in buddhist philosophy\, studying the Bodhicaryavatara\, Abhisamaya Alamkara (Ornament of Clear Realization)\, Madhyamika (The Middle Way) by Aryadeva\, Pramanavarttika karika (Commentary on the Valid Cognition) by Dharmakirti\, Logic and Epistemology by Sakya Pandita\, A Clear Differentiation of the Three Codes by Sakya Pandita\, Introduction to the Middle Way by Chandrakirti.In 2017 I graduated as a Lopön Master. \n\n\n\nIn 2018 I went to the buddhist center Sakya Samdrub Ling in Malaysia and during one year I participated in the center’s activities and performed rituals at the temple and in private family homes. \n\n\n\nAfter returning to India\, I undertook and successfully completed a 3-year retreat at the Sakya Dolma Phodrang retreat center in Dehradun. During this retreat I performed traditional Sakya practices\, such as Vajrapani\, Mahavairocana\, Vajrakilaya\, Hevajra\, Vajrayogini\, Sakya Pandita\, etc.  \n\n\n\nThen\, in July 2022\, I was invited to Sakya Tsechen Ling in France and thus\, for the first time\, I came to Europe.  \n\n\n\nI do my daily practice sessions now at the Institute in Kuttolsheim\, where I also take care of the temple and perform daily Tara rituals in the morning and Mahakala rituals in the afternoon\, as per tradition. I am happy to welcome visitors and meet new people. In the beginning of the daily fourth session there will be teachings on the sadhana and the quality of Medicine Buddha. \n\n\n\nSickness is a common suffering of all living beings. However\, according to Tibetan medicine\, most illnesses are psychosomatic and\, according to Buddhism\, many types of mental and physical illnesses are actually generated largely by one’s unwholesome attitude\, and cannot be cured by conventional medicine alone; on the other side\, there’s a connection between wholesome thoughts\, your health and happiness. The Buddha taught a form of meditation for people suffering from diseases by using a practice of a sacred mantra and meditation based on Medicine Buddha. Sutras in which Gautama Buddha expounds the glories of Sukhavati\, the Pure Lands\, sometimes refer to the presiding Buddha as Amitabha and sometimes as Amitayus. As Amitayus\, he is depicted in fine clothes and jewellery and as Amitabha in simple monk’s clothes. In Chinese and Japanese tradition\, they are also known as Amida. \n\n\n\nThe name Amitayus is the name for the Sambhogakaya aspect of Amitabha and is particularly associated with long life. He is usually depicted seated with a vase containing the nectar of immortality in his hands. In Tibetan Buddhism\, Amitayus is also one of the three deities of long life (Amitayus\, White Tara and Ushnishavijaya). Vajrayana practitioners should perform the Tsog offering twice a month\, on 10th and 25th day of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
